GPS interface cable for Dell Axim X5!

This unique adapter cable is ideal for use with Garmin and Magellan GPS receivers, however, it will work with other GPS receivers with a serial connection. Simply connect your Dell Axim X5 to the PC serial cable of your GPS receiver and utilize your mapping/navigation software that requires NMEA input.

Please Note: This cable cannot be used for the transfer of waypoints, tracks, route, etc data to and from GPS receiver. Can not be used with Activesync on your desktop.

Important: You will need to start your GPS software before connecting to the GPS receiver.

Start your GPS software first, to allow the Pocket PC to occupy COM Port 1. Then connect the GPS receiver. COM 1 is then configured to accept GPS data until the next time the Pocket PC is reset. If data is being transferred through the cable before it is connected to your Pocket PC, it may cause the device to automaticly scan for ports and hang.

Also, the Dell Axim is not designed with a locking mechanism in the base connector. Putting excessive strain on the cable can result in accidental disconnection. However, disconnecting and reconnecting the cable again does NOT usually cause a GPS software application to hang.
